The invisible enemy you need to know about
I am hearing a lot of people describe the COVID-19 as an invisible enemy. Just because a person looks fine on the outside doesn’t mean they aren’t carrying this invisible enemy around and unknowingly passing it on to others. I find that fact to be the most terrifying part of this whole thing. I’m not living in fear, but I am cautious when I have to go to the pharmacy or to the grocery store.
Here’s the thing, I don’t think I’ve ever heard about anything in our world that’s truly comparable to sin like this virus is.
- You can’t see it
- It spreads without you knowing (in your life and to others)
- It’s deadly
- It controls how you live
Even people who are spiritually “fit” suffer from sin that somehow makes its way into their life — unnoticed until they finally realize that it has such a stronghold on their thoughts and actions that it seems impossible to shake or conquer — causing them to believe there’s no way out or possibly no hope for tomorrow.
The good news is, we know where the root of all evil comes from. The better news is, we know what to do when we realize we are sinners. (Confess, ask for forgiveness, and so on)
We are all sinners. What we aren’t good at is protecting ourselves from sin and letting it develop a stronghold.
Friends, we have to wake up. It doesn’t matter if tomorrow is our last day or if we have 40 years left here on earth. We need to be aware of the spiritual battle that’s going on. Maybe the “symptoms” of sin in your life or how to protect yourself from it aren’t broadcasted on TV, however, it’s just as important to know because it can be as deadly as COVID-19 when left untreated.
I encourage you to do a heart check. I did mine. It may be a matter of eternal life…..or death.
