What Season Are You In?

Be ready in season and out of season.” ~ 2 Timothy 4:2

Isn’t it funny how sometimes when you read something, you find yourself having  to reread it (maybe more than once) because the words just don’t soak in? Then there are those times when you pick up something to read and you’re totally blown away – like you are holding a handwritten note that was addressed to you.

Those are the times when you stop thinking about everything else because God is getting your attention. Know what I mean?

Maybe you can’t relate now, but hopefully one day you will experience a wake up message from Him.

This is what grabbed my attention today. Here’s an excerpt from My Utmost For His Highest, by Oswald Chambers. Perhaps it will speak to you as well….

Many of us suffer from that unbalanced tendency to “be ready” only “out of season.” The season does not refer to time; it refers to us. This verse says, “Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season.”   In other words, we should “be ready” whether we feel like it or not. If we do only what we feel inclined to do, some of us would never do anything. There are some people who are totally unemployable in the spiritual realm. They are spiritually feeble and weak, and they refuse to do anything unless they are supernaturally inspired. The proof that our relationship is right with God is that we do our best whether we feel inspired or not.
