Why I Walk

Several years ago I had knee surgery. Nothing major, but I quickly realized that I needed to do something to stretch it and strengthen it – so I started walking.
First, I made it to the end of our neighborhood. That was a mile. It felt so good when there was improvement so  I continued walking – almost every day. One mile became two – then three, and sometimes four.

All of a sudden I started to see a change in my body. Although that wasn’t my goal in the beginning, I appreciated the change.

Something I discovered next was that my walks weren’t only good for my physical condition – they helped me mentally and spiritually.

When I lived in Indiana, there was a water tower that I would often stop at before heading home. I would  look up and think how incredible it was that God was bigger than what I saw in front of me.

Here it is, about eleven years later, and I still find walking my go-to. If nothing else, it provides quiet time for me to pray for my family and friends.

If you are lonely, without a car, without friends, or just going through something that’s sucking the life out of you – take a walk. Give it a chance. You never know what you’ll discover – things like God’s creation. Inner peace. Reassurance that you aren’t alone.

Allow our maker to speak to you. Let Him tell you that He loves you. When you feel the wind blow, maybe the One who created it is whispering something that you need to hear — or simply reminding you that He’s there.

Here are a few of the pics I have taken over the years when I was out and about. Nothing fancy, but special reminders that God is good – all the time. Just look at His creation!

  1. You actually make it appear so easy with your presentation however I to find this matter to be actually one thing which I feel I might by no means understand. It sort of feels too complex and very vast for me. I’m having a look forward for your subsequent post, I’ll try to get the hold of it!

  2. Wow, fantastic weblog format! How long have you ever been running a blog for? you made running a blog glance easy. The whole glance of your web site is wonderful, as neatly as the content!
