Safe and Secure When You’re in His Will
We recently moved to sunny Florida. That’s normal for people our age (mid 50’s), but it wasn’t a choice. Long story how we ended up here — I’ll save that for another time.
The transition has been a challenge for me. It was difficult leaving all of my friends, my home, my neighbors, family, and a community where I felt safe. Most of all – I left the place where I had a purpose. As always, we have prayed that God would reveal our purpose here. I think I’m finally beginning to see it….
When we were at church last Sunday, a gentleman told us about his life/ small group and invited us to join them for dinner on Thursday (yesterday). Normally I get pretty anxious about being in a group setting like that when I don’t know anyone, but this time I was ready to meet and connect with people! I met and talked with over 20 people. Little overwhelming? Yes, but it was worth it.
We sat at the end of a long table – next to a couple and their 21 year-old daughter. Their daughter shared that she’s going to be spending the next year in another country through CRU, formally known as Campus Crusade for Christ. She’s fresh out of college and is so excited about being in ministry. She’s been on several mission trips and definitely seems to have the heart to be a missionary.
Several people asked her parents how they were handling this and if they were worried about her safety. Her mom didn’t hesitate when she said, “Look around. Where IS it safe in this world?” It was on the tip of my tongue but I didn’t get a chance to share it — but thanks to Corrie Ten Boom and her sister’s amazing testimony that’s shared in The Hiding Place, I wanted to say “Oh, there is a safe place to be! In the center of God’s will. That’s the safest place to be.”
