Love Through the Eyes of a Child…
I volunteered to watch a friend’s 3rd grade twins for a few hours this afternoon. I have to admit that I was a little nervous at first ONLY because it had been YEARS since my 3 sons were that age, so I was somewhat rusty.
Let me tell you what, those 3 hours were packed with fun! We had snacks, did homework, played Chutes and Ladders, Scrabble and basketball, and then filled in the rest of the time with lots of questions!!!
What topped it all off was when I noticed the elf in their wreath. I learned that they named him ‘Jimmy’ – named after a special needs employee at our local McDonald’s.
Melted….my…..heart.
They LOVE going to McDonald’s so that they can see and talk with Jimmy. Why? Because it’s there that they see what a kind, pure and childlike heart is like. I don’t know if Jimmy can truly understand what an impact he has made on these two, but there is NO DOUBT that he has set the bar of what a difference it can make when you have such a servant attitude. A lesson that many would benefit from.
